We take conservation seriously!

Protecting the environment is a responsibility we take very seriously at Copycare and we are very pleased to have recognised with the award for our efforts. We know there is always more we can do.

How has the business improved its environmental practice and made a positive contribution to the environment?

1. The business (in one form or another) has been supplying new and refurbished copiers and printers for 14 years. This has become our core business. We are able to take machines that would normally be thrown away and give them a second lease of life. We hate throwing anything and in this world where all machines are disposable items, we refurbish old machines thus saving huge amounts of energy and landfill.



2. Recycling paper - we use lots to test machines. All paper goes to recycling bins. We only print when absolutely necessary. We recommend using recycled paper to our clients. We are told that 1 tree makes just 16.67 reams of paper.

5. We operate "a turn off when not in use" policy. This is for machines and lights. All pc's are shut down at night and when not in use. We have been told it takes the same amount of energy to laser print 800 sheets of paper as a pc left on overnight. Of course all copiers are turned off when not in use and we routinely set the machines (for us and our customers) to have power save mode turned on.



6. We use recycled rags to clean the machines.



7. All packaging is recycled (we send out lots of toner particularly). We have not bought any new packaging since we started this policy 2 years ago.



8. Copycare upgrades it pc's wherever possible to avoid having to buy new and throwing away old machines.



9. Old copiers and printers that are too, old as much as possible are sent to a company that sends them to the Third World.
