Colour Copier Buying Tips
When choosing a colour photocopier, you will need to consider the following points:
- Work out roughly how many copies will be made per month, allowing for future expansion of your business and follow the manufacturer's maximum monthly volume recommendations;
- The speed of a colour photocopier is measured in copies per minute (cpm)—ensure the colour photocopier you choose will run at an appropriate speed for your requirements;
- Some small colour photocopiers will only copy to a maximum paper size of A4, so ensure you choose one that will copy to the size of paper you need;
- Other features that are only available on some colour photocopiers are enlargement and reduction, and double sided (duplex) copying—ensure you choose a colour photocopier that can carry out these tasks if required;
- Ensure you choose a colour photocopier that has enough paper capacity to enable it to be filled at convenient intervals;
- Digital colour photocopiers often offer improved quality and reliability as well as operating more quietly than analogue ones;
- If you need your colour photocopier to be connectable to your computer network or telephone lines, you will need to choose a colour digital photocopier;
- Ensure you choose a colour photocopier supplier who will offer a good service arrangement—this is usually negotiated on a "cost per copy" basis and should include service and spare parts over a given period;
- It may be more cost-effective to lease your colour photocopier, so ask suppliers about leasing arrangements;
- For additional peace of mind, choose an authorised supplier of the brand of colour photocopier you want to buy;
- Look beyond prices quoted for the colour photocopier itself, and be sure to compare installation, service and support packages.
